I was looking for an environment that emphasized collaborative, open team culture, knowledge exchange and closer relationships. That was the most important factor and when looking for a new position this was unfortunately not always the case in the past. Then I applied at craftworks and from the first interview I had a very positive impression of craftworks and I knew I wanted to work here.
From day one people accept you in a very warm, respectful way. I like that people are supported if they want to branch out into other roles, the door is open for that. So you are not stuck in the same role which is really exciting and important for motivation. The onboarding process is very well organized, a lot of people engage with you so you get to know the different aspects of craftworks.
I'm a front-end engineer. So far I have already worked on some smaller onboarding tasks. Communication here works very well so that makes day-to-day tasks easier to manage, I feel I am able to be productive and autonomous.
With coffee! And by organizing my day. I plan my daily tasks because it gives me a sense of order. Reading articles is also a good way for me to start the day.
I stick to a learning plan and work on fundamentals. Getting feedback from more experienced colleagues is also really important. And of course - loads of practice!
I really enjoy watching movies and TV shows. My recent obsession is chess, I've become obsessed with the game. I read books quite a bit and enjoy a broad range of music genres.
I think it would be Three Body Problem, the well-known Chinese sci-fi novel. It is loaded with imagination and it explores a lot of important topics.
Donnie Brasco, I have seen it a dozen times and will watch it many more times.
Right now I am focusing on Angular because it's the framework we use here and my past experience is mostly with React so it is a bit of a challenge to learn “the ways” of Angular. I am also getting more and more into RxJS, functional-reactive programming is really exciting.
My formal education background is not in computer science, but humanities and social sciences. After finishing my education path, a research career path was not very appealing to me, mostly due to huge insecurity. So on the advice of a friend I started getting into web development topics bit by bit. Discipline paid off, I have been learning and practicing ever since, trying to get better.
Coffee or tea? Coffee.
Tell me one place you always wanted to travel to? Central Asia.
If you could choose a superpower, what would it be? Teleportation.
Thank you, Valter!
