Marija Mijic, HR & Office Allrounder craftworks

Can you tell me what your position at craftworks is and what you have been working on?

I'm an intern and worked on our operations processes, trying to automate them. I also set up Open Code and connected it with n8n, GitHub, and our internal planning tool. Now, Open Code is able to override the processes, which I then convert into BPMN files. It can also correct them and produce new ones from a simple process description. Additionally, when a process needs to alert someone, it can now do so automatically via n8n.

Could you please tell us more about your educational background?

I went to an IT-specific secondary school and after that, I decided to go to HTL Ybbs, which specializes in Networking and Cybersecurity. I'm currently in my fourth year there and, hopefully, I will graduate in two years.

How would you describe the onboarding process at craftworks?

I felt really supported during the onboarding process and was always able to ask questions whenever I had any. My buddies were really helpful and i really enjoyed working with them.

Could you describe craftworks in three words?

Understanding, friendly, future-oriented.

What energizes you at work?

Iced coffee with oat milk.

What did you like the most about your work/ internship?

That I learned so many new things and I was able to link what you’ve learnt at school with what I've recently learnt. Also that I was allowed to set up a new AI because I really wanted to try that for a very long time.

What did your typical day at craftworks looks like?

First, I start my day in the train office on my way to work, where I usually get an overview of what I did the previous day and check Slack and my emails. After arriving at the office, I have my first meeting with my buddies at 9:00 AM. Following that, I usually grab an iced coffee with Linda and start working on my tasks for the day. Around noon it's time to order lunch, and afterwards, we usually play a round of tischkick. My day usually ends around 3:30 PM.

What’s one thing you’re learning now, and why is it important to you?

I'm learning how to use GitHub and Git. It’s important because I think it will help me with my future jobs.  I'm also getting more familiar with the modeling language BPMN.

What do you take away from your time at craftworks?

Definitely a great impression of what a good work environment looks like, some new foosball skills and a lot of knowledge about GitHub!

Any famous last thoughts you would like to share with us?

I really enjoyed my internship. I had a lot of fun, and it gave me great motivation because it showed me exactly what I should look for in my future career.

Only 3 short questions left:

Office or Remote? Office.

Tell me one place you always wanted to travel to? Tokyo.
