Meet The Team: Interview with Philipp Spindler

This week features an interview with Philipp Spindler, who joined the craftworks team in August. At the age of 22 Philipp has already started his Master in Software Engineering and successfully combines this with his work as a software developer at craftworks.

Philipp, could you just start by explaining how you ended up at craftworks?

After I finished my Bachelor’s degree, I knew I wanted to start coding for the real world. So I sourced the internet and found an awesome job advert by a company called “craftworks”, looking for a web developer. After a quick read of the ad, I instantly knew this was the job for me and applied. Only a few days later I was invited to craftworks, and in fact my expectations of the life at craftworks were exceeded.

That’s really nice to hear! Could you describe craftworks in 3 words?

Professional, familiar, innovative.

What in your work do you enjoy the most?

I like the new challenges you face every day, that there is always room to improve yourself, and the awesome feeling you get when you’re proud of what you’ve created. 🙂

Philipp, how do you go about continuing to develop your professional skills and knowledge?

Actually I started my Master’s degree in Software Engineering at the FH Technikum Wien about two months ago, so right now I’m in the lucky situation of learning lots of new different things alongside my job at craftworks. But besides that I follow various tech-related Subreddits and YouTube channels, and when I find time for it I enjoy reading any kind of tech-books.

Could you share them with us?

Sure!

My favorite from Reddit:

From YouTube:

And an educational platform:

Thanks! Philipp, apart from work, what do you do with your time off?

I love doing all different kinds of sports. Alongside that I’m pretty active with the youth organization in my hometown and always appreciate spending time with my friends.

3 short questions:

Mac or PC?

Doesn’t matter, as long as it does the job well. 😉

Office or remote?

Office, but with the possibility to work remote if necessary.

Which music is playing on your player right now?

I really enjoyed listening to the new Odesza album recently, but I also discovered that listening to some lo-fi hip hop helps me to work as concentrated as possible.

Thank you, Philipp!

And thank YOU for reading our fifth interview. We hope you found some interesting tips and suggestions. See you in two weeks!
