Interview with Boris Matuga

What did you do before craftworks?

Before craftworks, I spent almost four years at a sports betting company, where I was responsible for SEO and Paid Social. Prior to that, in 2016, I started a company with friends. We ran an agency doing affiliate marketing and websites. 

What about craftworks do you like the most so far?

So far, I think it's the people. Everybody was kind and offered help, and that was very welcoming. I also appreciate the opportunities in terms of what I can get done, how well things are already working, and that I can start building from here.

What do you do at craftworks and in what circumstance would i come to you for something?

I'm the Growth Manager, which means I'm responsible for how people find craftworks in the first place. Across search engines like Google and Bing, on Reddit, and through paid channels like Google Ads, Instagram, and LinkedIn. My main focus is understanding where we can acquire the most customers, where our existing traffic comes from, and how that shapes our strategy across SEO, paid search, and paid social.

So whenever you're wondering what people are actually searching for, how we rank compared to competitors, why a certain page isn't ranking, whether an ad campaign is worth the budget, where our website visitors are coming from, or how a marketing decision might affect our visibility. I'm the person to ask.

Could you describe craftworks in 3 words?

Friendly, ambitious, futuristic.

How do you prefer to start your day?

Usually very early, as I have a morning routine that consists of a “healthy drink”, then I go to the gym, and after that I'm off to work. Eat the frog first.

What's the best advice you were ever given?

My dad said: “Always give your best.”

Could you tell us more about yourself? For example: what are your hobbies and where do you like to spend your time most?

I like to spend my time at the beach and love every team sport actually. I play Magic: The Gathering and in general I just love to spend time with my friends. 

What movie have you seen recently and would you recommend watching it?

It's not a movie but a series called Hunter x Hunter absolute recommendation. But if it's a movie, then Coach Carter.

Who or what has influenced you most when it comes to how you approach your work?

Definitely my parents as they were hard working and always talked positively about work. They emphasized that it's important to love what you do as you do it for 40 hours a week or even sometimes more.

If you were the only human left on Earth, what would you do?

I'd probably write down everything that led to being the last person on Earth, so that “if humanity returns”, they can learn from it and avoid ending up alone like this again. Apart from that, I'd spend my time at the beach.
