Meet The Team: Interview with Sven Hugo Joosten

Even during these crazy covid-times we are growing. Sven joined us in November. As VP Sales he will accompany our growth and ensure customer satisfaction. Happy reading!

Can you tell me what your position at craftworks is and on what you are working right now?

Well, craftworks is ready for scale. My position comes in taking care of the operational business, but also in organizational development, so that the company can grow in the future.

How do you prefer to start your day? With some (light) sport to get my blood circulation going and so that I do not have to feel guilty the rest of the day, should it become a long day…On a working day I always start with an agenda check (I also try to do it the night before) as an overview of the day. And I do like to have my meetings in the first part of the day so that I have enough time for timely follow ups during the second part of the day.

What led you to this career (to craftworks) and did your expectations about craftworks come true?

I was addressed by Daniela, our Head of People via LinkedIn, while I did feel open for something new. AI is totally interesting and a bit of a black hole. I like to jump into an adventure, so… During our first meeting, Jakob, Simon and Daniela really got me excited for this job! The way they communicated and the atmosphere at the office fully convinced me that I needed to come here.

What do you like most about craftworks?

Truth holds – the team spirit. I’ve never experienced it at this level so far in my career. All team members are going in the same direction and support each other whenever needed. There is a very positive atmosphere – enabled by various social tools and activities. The onboarding program was extremely well organized! It made me speak to almost everybody in the company.  Due to covid-19, I had to switch to home office. But it was seamless. I am fully integrated in the  company already – I know my way around and feel completely included.

What energizes you at work?

Any kind of challenge. I like to learn and I am an achiever. As a sales person, I get a lot of energy from customer contact. Whenever I feel that I understand the needs of the customer and that I am able to bring both of us to a next level, that really keeps me going!

Which craftworks value is most important to you and why?

I find it difficult to pick one as the most important. They are all important. As a compromise I will pick 3…

First is Innovation – you always have to challenge the status quo personally and business related. Second is Teamspirit & Respect – I really haven’t felt this being performed at such a high level ever before in a company as here with craftworks. Third is Quality – I do want to be able to stand behind the services we deliver and take full accountability for it.

Where’s your favorite place in the world?

Vienna

What’s your favorite movie?

Julliane Moore – something with …. wait I have to google it: “Far from heaven”.

What is your favorite meal?

At the moment: “ Poke Bowls”. From Wiki Wiki Poke (they are the best). But I really like almost everything. I am a big rice eater! Since I became part of a Persian family-in law it must be Persian rice with Tah-Dig (crust). Cannot have it without anymore!

What three words would your friends use to describe you?

Loyal, stubborn and optimistic.

Are you a coffee person or tea person?

I’m a tea person – but i do like coffee.

Which music is playing on your player right now?

Honestly, my surroundings have become more and more silent.  During work I prefer classical music, if at all. I love Pop, Soul, Rhythm and Blue. I really do not like Heavy Metal!

If you could choose a superpower, what would it be?

(Starts to sing…) Heal the world…! ( Michael Jackson https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWf-eARnf6U)

If you were the only human left on Earth, what would you do?

Make the best of it (and  enjoy the silence).

Thank you Sven!
